This 25 gram Green Thermochromic Paint powder is a great pigment for Custom Paint! It is called thermochromic pigment. You can now create dazzling effects that change color when the temperature of the item changes. This Green Thermochromic Paint  is being used in everything from toys to choppers to home interiors. Many are experimenting with it to create the ultimate home efficient roofing, because it could literally change from black to white when the temperture was hot. Mix into any clear base coat (like a binder or color blender), and spray over your desired graphics or base coat color. See our article, How To Mix Custom Paint. As mentioned in our article about temperature change paint, this product requires a great deal of UV protection in order to create a lasting effect in outdoor environments. We recommend Wet Wet Plus clear or another highly UV protective clear for outdoor or exterior use. Because this paint is dependent on UV protection, we offer no warrantee on it’s longevity, since that depends on how you topcoat it. Tip: using this Green Thermochromic paint underneath Illusion Pearls ® or ColorShift Pearls ® will help increase it’s tolerance to UV rays as well, as pearls are made with titanium oxide, a principle ingredient in sunscreen protectants.
Thermochromics change color dramatically (even from black to white) as the temperature changes. Ours are set to change at 86 degrees F. This Green Thermochromic Paint pigment can be used in everything from custom paint to clothing. Our pigments have been used in everything from masks to motorcycles. Use in your own testing for a custom application!
Did you know magicians use thermochromic pigments in magic tricks?
Thermochromic paints change as the temperature changes. As the temperature goes up, the pigment becomes colorless, revealing the base coat or graphics underneath. The helmet shown was a white base with a black temperature sensitive paint sprayed over it. The following video has caused a huge increase in our product sales for themochromic pigments. What you are looking at is BLACK THERMOCHROMIC OVER an orange base. The second video (right) shows how body heat can effect thermochromics in an amusing way… See Above Videos.
Both Above Videos were sent by users of our products. See their Youtube channels for more information.
Mix these pigments with our pearls for a subtle and more protected paint job. See the yellow to orange mouse shown below.Â
Just mix into a clear base (like a blender or a binder) and spray it. 1 25 gram bag treats 1 sprayable quart of base clear and will get you great temperature or solar change paint at a great price. NOTE: The Thermochromic paints (Temperature change) have a LOW UV TOLERANCE without proper protection, so for exterior paint, use a clear coat like Wet Wet Plus clear or Dupont’s hc7776. No warranty can be given, as this is a known issue and what you topcoat it with will determine its longevity and endurance to UV rays. Although we do not recommend it, in one video above our customer was able to get it to work in powder coatings.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PROLONGED OUTDOOR USE.
We recommend starting with 1 25 gram bag per quart of sprayable clear paint/binder.  These are all just starting ratios and can be adjusted for your specific use. This product is best mixed 1 25 gram bag into a pint of reducer and should be allowed to sit for 24 hours before mixing with one pint of clear paint to make a sprayable quart of material.  This goes best into an oil or solvent based clear.  Mixing with a water based clear has not caused us any issues but other customers have had difficulties.  Contact us with any questions before mixing.
Many customers call and ask for a step by step guide for painting with this product. Â There are many factors that go into a paint job but I have put together a basic guide:Â
-lay down the desired base coat color (best is white or brighter colors)
-mix the 25 gram bag of thermo into a pint of reducer for 24 hours
-add a pint of clear to the reducer to make a sprayable quart
-spray 5-7 coats of thermo over base coat color
-apply a good UV top coat clear 3-4 coats over that (you can add a ghost pearl to the clear for extra UV protection).
Do understand that if this is going to be applied to a surface that will have prolonged UV exposure or high heat exposure, this pigment will start to break down and fade to a hazy gray.
We cannot offer any guarantees on the life of this paint due to the UV and heat factors. Â There are too many variables that make it difficult to guarantee the life of this product.
